Put Luggage Under the Bed
One downside of staying in an inside cabin is the feeling of being cramped. The lack of a window and balcony makes the space seem even smaller. So the last thing you want is to have your luggage taking up valuable floor space in your already small cabin.
To maximize the available space, store your luggage under the bed. Most rookie cruisers don’t know this, but there is usually plenty of space under the bed to fit your luggage and bags.
I also find it helpful to use a mesh laundry bag for my dirty clothes, and when it’s full, I store my dirty laundry inside one of my empty suitcases.
Ask for More Hangers
On a cruise, there never seem to be enough hangers in the closets, especially when more than two people share a cabin. To stay organized, ask your cabin steward for extra hangers. This will allow you to make the most of the hanging closet space.
Add Magnetic Hooks
Staying organized is key in an inside cabin, especially if there are more than two people in your cabin. One effective way to stay organized is to bring along some magnetic hooks. Since the cruise cabin walls are magnetic, these hooks can easily be attached to the wall. They are handy for hanging cruise lanyards, hats, towels, and bathing suits. I like these magnetic hooks. They are very strong magnets, so things don’t fall off. It will keep your clutter in check.
Over the Door Hanger
Another great way to keep your inside cabin tidy is to bring along an over-the-door organizer. This is a simple way to maintain order and reduce clutter in your cabin. I personally like to use it to store water bottles, socks, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Increase Airflow
Many people complain that inside cabins can get stuffy. Since you can’t open a balcony door for fresh air, improving air circulation is key. Bringing a portable fan can make a big difference.

Stay Organized with Packing Cubes
Another easy way to stay organized in your cruise cabin is to use packing cubes. Since discovering this, I have never gone on a vacation without packing cubes. They are essential to me.
I like that they help me save space in my luggage by compressing my clothes, so I can fit more in my luggage. It also makes it easy to unpack because I simply take the packing cubes out and place them in the cabin closet and drawers.
To keep things organized, I assign each cube a category, such as shirts, underwear, shorts, and so on. I also use a different packing cube color for each person in the cabin to avoid getting our packing cubes mixed up and to keep things organized.
Nightlight
One complaint some passengers have about staying in an inside cabin is that it’s too dark. The darkness can be overwhelming, especially for families with kids. A good solution is to bring a nightlight. I like this nightlight because it is motion-activated and has a magnetic base so you can attach it to the wall.
Clock
Some passengers don’t like inside cabins because the lack of natural light can make them feel disoriented—they don’t even know what time it is! An easy way to solve this is to bring a small travel clock so that you can always keep track of time!
Magnetic Clips
When you’re on a cruise, you’ll receive a lot of paperwork, such as daily planners, announcements, gift shop sale flyers, port maps, and kids club agendas. This paperwork can pile up and clutter your desk and nightstand. To keep everything organized, bring magnetic clips.
You can use these clips to create a small bulletin board on the wall of your cruise cabin. This way, you can stay organized and keep track of important documents.
Hanging Toiletry Bag
Cruise ship cabin bathrooms are known for being very small with limited countertop space.
