Memorial Day Parades in Westchester County 2023

It’s a great way to pay respects to the military personnel who sacrificed their lives for our country while participating in a community event.

Different towns across Westchester County host their own parades. 

From larger processions with marching bands and town officials to smaller gatherings, there’s likely to be a parade that fits your schedule and preference. 

And while these Westchester County parades are a traditional part of Memorial Day activities, remember that not all of them take place on Memorial Day itself.

Memorial Day Parades in Westchester County, NY

Memorial Day Parade in White Plains, NY

Date: May 29, 2023

Start Time: 10 AM

Parade Start: The parade will begin at Church St.

Parade Route: The march will proceed onto Main St., and then to No. Broadway

Parade End: The White Plains Memorial Day Parade will end at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the WP Rural Cemetery on No. Broadway. 

The City of White Plains will commemorate Memorial Day on Monday, May 29, 2023, with its annual White Plains Parade & Ceremony, sponsored by the Mayor’s Memorial and Veterans Days Board. 

The parade will march from Church St. to Main St., then onto No. Broadway and conclude at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the WP Rural Cemetery on No. Broadway. 

A ceremony will be held at the end of the parade at the Rural Cemetery, which will be conducted rain or shine.

Memorial Day Parade in Rye, NY

Date: May 29, 2023

Start Time: 9:30 AM

Parade Start: The Rye Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Rye Train Station

Parade Route: The parade will proceed down Purchase Street

Parade End: The parade will end at Rye City Hall

The Rye American Legion Post Auxiliary is taking the reins of organizing a memorable Rye Memorial Day parade down Purchase Street for Memorial Day. 

Local participants will include Rye’s Boys and Girls Scouts, and local government officials. Starting at 9:30 am at the train station, the parade will end at City Hall.

Memorial Day Parade in Scarsdale, NY

Date: May 29, 2023

Start Time: 10 AM

Parade Start: The Memorial Day celebrations begin with service and flag-raising at Boniface Circle.

Parade Route: Memorial Day Parade will march through Scarsdale Village.

Parade End: The parade will end at Memorial Garden on Mamaroneck Road.

The Memorial Day Parade in Scarsdale, planned by the American Legion under Post Commander Tom Adamo, will take place in Scarsdale Village. 

The day will begin with service and flag raising at Boniface Circle, followed by a short march through the Village. 

After the march, there will be speeches in Chase Park. The day will culminate with a ceremony at Memorial Garden on Mamaroneck Road, including a wreath placement, and flag raising.

Memorial Day Parade Marching Band

Memorial Day Parade in Larchmont, NY

Date: May 25, 2023

Parade Start: The Memorial Day Parade in Larchmont will start at Chatsworth Avenue Bridge

Parade Route: The parade will run along Palmer Ave. and Larchmont Ave.

Parade End: The parade will end at Larchmont Village Hall and Constitution Park. 

On Thursday, May 25, the Village of Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck will hold a day of remembrance with a Memorial Day Parade. 

The parade will start from the Chatsworth Avenue Bridge and run along Palmer Ave. and Larchmont Ave., before finally ending at Larchmont Village Hall and Constitution Park.

Memorial Day Parade in Mamaroneck, NY

Date: May 28, 2023

Start Time: 5 PM

Parade Start: The Mamaroneck Memorial Day Parade will kick off at Mamaroneck Avenue School

Parade Route: The parade will run down Mamaroneck Avenue and into the village, followed by a right turn onto Prospect Avenue and up the hill.

Parade End: The parade will end at American Legion Post 90 at 189 Prospect Avenue 

The Village of Mamaroneck and American Legion Post 90 are holding a Memorial Day Parade in Mamaroneck

The parade will be held on May 28 starting at Mamaroneck Avenue School, through Mamaroneck Avenue and ending at American Legion Post 90. 

Following the parade, a ceremony will be held in front of American Legion Post 90, highlighting the gratitude and honor the community holds for its service members.

Memorial Day Parade in Katonah, NY

Date: May 29, 2023

Start Time: 10 AM

Parade Start: The Memorial Day Parade in Katonah will begin at the Katonah Fire House

The Katonah Memorial Day Parade will be held on May 29 at 10 am with the starting point at the Katonah Fire House.

Tips for Attending Memorial Day Parades in Westchester County:

  1. Bring a Foldable Beach Chair: Stay comfortable, sit on your foldable beach chair while you wait. 
  2. Stay Hydrated and Snack: Bring water, juice, and snacks to keep yourself refreshed and energized during the wait. 
  3. Don’t Forget Sunblock!
  4. Bring Flags for the Kids: Make the experience even more special for children by bringing small flags for them to wave. They can feel a part of the parade and it’s great for memorable photos.

How do I know Where to Go to Watch Memorial Day Parades?

The best place to watch the Memorial Day parade is along the route. If you know where the parade route is, then you can stake a front row spot that is not crowded and watch the parade from there. 

If you don’t know the parade route, then go to the starting point and catch the parade from there. This way, you won’t miss the beginning of the parade, and you can follow along as it progresses.
