A popular battery-powered heated sock sold at Costco has been recalled due to a potential burn hazard, and it’s affecting thousands of shoppers across the country.
What Product Is Being Recalled
The recall applies to 32 Degrees HEAT heated socks that were sold in black and came in multiple sizes, including medium, large, and extra-large.
These socks include a rechargeable battery pack designed to keep your feet warm.
When Were the Socks Sold?
They were sold both in stores and online through Costco between August 2025 and March 2026, typically priced between $30 and $46.
Why the Socks Are Being Recalled
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the issue involves a burn risk that can occur when the socks are used during high-intensity activities. Under certain conditions, a combination of heat, friction, moisture, and pressure can build up and lead to burns on the skin. Reported Injuries
This is not just a precautionary recall. There have already been 14 reported incidents, including 13 cases of first- or second-degree burns.
These types of burns, often referred to as partial-thickness burns, can be painful and may require medical attention, which makes the recall especially important to take seriously.
How Many Are Affected
The scale of the recall is significant, with approximately 207,800 pairs of socks affected. That means a large number of Costco members could have this product at home without realizing the potential danger.
What You Should Do
If you own a pair, the recommendation is straightforward. Stop using the socks immediately and return them to Costco for a full refund. There is no repair or replacement being offered, as the product has been deemed unsafe for continued use.
