My $412 Costco Haul: $5 Pajamas, Grocery Finds and More

This Costco trip came with a happy surprise. I thought I was finished shopping, but the pajamas marked $12.97 rang up at only five dollars each. Once I realized that, I went right back inside for more.

My first checkout was $312.86. My second added another $99.16, bringing the whole trip to $412.02.

Here are the 21 things I bought, starting with the deal that sent me back into the store.

1. Five Dollar Pajamas

These Room Service shawl collar pajamas were marked $12.97, so I initially bought three sets.

But they rang up at only five dollars each. When I saw that on my receipt, I went back inside and bought 19 more.

So yes, I ended up with 22 pajama sets, which cost $110 before tax.

I bought them for my aunts, my sister and my daughter. That’s why I bought so many.

I’ve bought these pajamas before for myself and my mom, and they’re super soft. I already knew I liked them, which made the five dollar price even harder to resist.

2. Reef Fanning Sandals

I also bought these Reef Fanning sandals on clearance for $19.97.

My son and his friends have been into flip flops lately. My guess is that slides are out in his friend group, at least for now.

I’ve seen Reef Fanning sandals listed for $75 on the Reef website, so I thought these were a great deal.

Between the sandals and all those pajamas, I definitely brought home more clothing than I expected.

3. Woodland Gingerbread House Kit

This Woodland gingerbread house kit was $13.99.

We buy a Costco gingerbread house kit every year, and my kids decorate it during Thanksgiving. It’s become one of our holiday traditions.

My favorite thing about this kit is that the house is already built.

We can get straight to decorating instead of trying to hold the walls together and hoping the whole thing doesn’t collapse.

I bought it early because I didn’t want to take the chance of coming back in November and finding it sold out.

4. Atlantic Salmon

This pack of Atlantic salmon was $30.92, with a six dollar discount. That brought the price down to $24.92 for the pack.

One of my favorite ways to prepare salmon is to marinate it with miso, similar to the miso marinated black cod at Nobu.

5. Sliced Raclette Cheese

This Mifroma sliced raclette cheese was $14.89.

It comes with two packs and 21 ounces total, and the cheese is already sliced.

I have a raclette grill that I haven’t used in a long time. Seeing this cheese reminded me that I should finally bring it out again.

Now I’m planning to invite some girlfriends over for a raclette party.

6. Schaller and Weber Käsekrainer Sausages

These Schaller and Weber sausages were $13.49.

They come in three separate ten ounce packs, which I like because I don’t have to open everything at once.

7. Jongga Kimchi

The Jongga kimchi was $9.89, with a two dollar discount, so I paid $7.89.

This is a big jar, with 52.9 ounces.

I’m trying to improve my gut health and incorporate more fermented foods into my routine. That’s one of the reasons I picked this up.

I’d like to get into the habit of eating kimchi more regularly, and the sale gave me another reason to buy it.

8. GoGo Fruit Pouches

These GoGo fruit pouches were $15.79.

I bought them for my son because he loves them.

They’re convenient to keep on hand for a quick snack, especially when we’re busy or heading out the door.

9. Orgain Chocolate Protein Milkshakes

Before I went shopping, I asked my son what he wanted from Costco. His main request was more high protein snacks.

He plays football and wants to get more protein. But he’s allergic to nuts, which limits his protein bar options, so I decided to look at protein shakes.

I was surprised by how expensive some of them were. I spent a long time comparing the options and eventually chose two cases of these Orgain chocolate protein milkshakes.

What appealed to me was that they’re made with A2 milk and have no sucralose.

They were also on sale. The regular price was $27.99 per case, with a six dollar discount, bringing them down to $21.99 for a case of 15. That’s a good price at $1.47 per bottle.

10. Chobani Protein Yogurt Drinks

I also bought these Chobani protein yogurt drinks for $19.99.

The package comes with twelve ten ounce bottles. That works out to about $1.67 each, with 20 grams of protein per bottle.

These are another convenient protein option for my son.

Whenever we’re in a rush, he can drink one in the car on the way to school. I like having something in the refrigerator that he can grab when we don’t have time for a sit down breakfast.

11. Kodiak Protein Pancake Mix

The Kodiak protein pancake mix was $13.29.

I bought it so we can have more high protein breakfasts.

We already enjoy pancakes, so this seemed like an easy way to add another protein option to our breakfast routine without changing things too much.

12. Chobani Yogurt

The regular Chobani yogurt pack was $17.99.

I buy this every Costco trip because we eat yogurt every day.

It’s one of those refrigerator staples I never want to run out of.

13. Organic Free Range Eggs

The organic free range eggs were $8.29.

We go through eggs quickly, so these are another regular Costco purchase.

I like keeping them stocked in the refrigerator for breakfast and everyday cooking.

14. Lactaid Milk

The two percent Lactaid milk was $5.59.

I use it in my coffee every day, so it’s another item I buy regularly.

Running out of the milk I use for my morning coffee is something I’d rather avoid.

15. Broccoli

This bag of broccoli florets was $7.99.

I like buying the florets at Costco because they make preparing a vegetable side so much easier.

Lately, I’ve been cooking them in my Cuisinart air fryer.

Air frying has become one of my favorite ways to cook broccoli. It’s easy, and I love those crispy edges.

16. Mandarins

The mandarins were $4.99.

I’m trying to get my family to eat more fruit, so I picked these up.

They’re easy to grab for a snack and convenient to pack.

17. Bananas

The bananas were just $1.99.

I think they’re one of the best values at Costco.

We use them for smoothies, yogurt and oatmeal, or just eat them as a quick snack.

18. Kirkland Sea Salt

This Kirkland sea salt was $3.39.

Last time, I bought iodized table salt and later realized it wasn’t the sea salt I had wanted.

So this time, I made sure to pick up the one I meant to buy.

19. Dove Body Wash

The Dove body wash was $20.99.

I bought this for my son. It was one of the everyday household supplies we needed to restock on this trip.

20. Kirkland Baby Wipes

The Kirkland baby wipes were $19.99.

These were another household restock. Along with all the food and clothing, I had a few practical supplies to pick up, too.

21. Kirkland Aller Tec

The Kirkland Aller Tec was $13.49 for 365 tablets.

I find it much less expensive than buying Zyrtec.

Our previous bottle had expired, so we needed a replacement.

My Total

My first checkout came to $312.86, including tax.

Then I went back inside for 19 more pajama sets, which added another $99.16.

The total for this Costco haul came out to $412.02.
