Greenwich Polo Club Kicks Off 2021 Season!

Greenwich Polo Club kicks off the season with the first polo match on Sunday June 6th at 3pm. This year, Greenwich Polo Club will be in full swing, bringing back a full season of Sunday matches. The Sunday polo matches is sure to appeal to spectators of all ages- bring your out of town guests, bring the kids! The Sunday matches is a great way to spend Sundays with family and friends. Below you will find information on the Greenwich Polo Club 2021 season.

Greenwich Polo Club Seating Options

You can expect picnicking on the lawn and the much beloved tradition of the halftime divot stomp at the Sunday polo matches. It’s a family friendly event with lots of food and beverage options and room for kids to run around! Like previous Sunday Polo matches, The Greenwich Polo Club will be offering a wide variety of seating. Picnic style East Lawn seating starts at $40 per car, guests can get closer to the action and upgrade to the West Lawn seating for $75 per car. If you want to watch the polo match under the shade, grandstand bleachers will also be available for $60 per car. For a more VIP experience at the polo matches, there is Grandstand box seating, Player’s Lounge VIP seats and Cabana seats.

Food and Beverage at the Polo Matches

A wide variety of food and beverage options are available at the polo matches. Gourmet food trucks are available on-site by the polo field. This year, guests will be able to order Polo Picnic Boxes by Marcia Selden Catering. You can expect gourmet edibles in your picnic boxes such as lobster rolls, sushi, cheese and charcuterie. Polo picnic boxes must be ordered in advance for pickup onsite at the polo field.

Are Masks Required at the Polo matches?

Greenwich Polo Club wants all guests to feel comfortable and safe. The Sunday polo matches will back back to nearly full capacity. Although the State of Connecticut has lifted all restrictions for outdoor events, the CDC encourages those who are not fully-vaccinated to mask and social distance.

What Time are the Sunday Polo Matches at the Greenwich Polo Club?

The Sunday public polo match play begins at 3pm. The gates open at 1:00 pm. It’s recommended to buy your Greenwich Polo Club tickets in advance. Entry without a ticket is not guaranteed.

2021 Greenwich Polo Club Matches

The 2021 Opening Day will kick off with the inaugural East Coast Bronze Cup, followed by the East Coast Silver Cup, and culminating with the East Coast Gold Cup.

  • East Coast Bronze Cup: June 6- 20
  • East Coast Silver Cup: June 23 – July 4
  • East Coast Gold Cup: July 11-25
  • East Coast Open Presented by Audi: Aug. 29 – Sept. 12

Greenwich Polo Club East Coast Bronze Cup Teams

The 4 polo teams will compete in a One League format. All teams play each other. Below are the teams playing in the East Coast Bronze Cup (June 6-20, 2021).

Greenwich Polo Club was established in 1981 and is recognized as one of the top high-goal polo venues in the world. Known for its unmatched roster of legendary teams, professional players, and champion equine athletes GPC hosts some of the most important tournaments in polo, including the prestigious East Coast Open.

The club is home to the legendary White Birch polo team, one of the most successful in history, having won the most high-goal polo tournaments of any team over the course of the past 25 years, including the US Open Polo Championship in 2005.

Some of the world’s best players have played at Greenwich Polo Club, including Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Nacho Figueras and many others. Each Spring players descend on Greenwich with their strings of elite horses to compete for some of polo’s most prestigious titles.
