Target Lowers Prices on Nearly 2000 Items: What Costs Less

With inflation putting pressure on household budgets and grocery and gas bills eating into shoppers’ wallets, here’s some welcome news: Target is lowering prices. For families heading into the holiday season, those savings could help make shopping a little more affordable.

Target announced it is lowering prices on nearly 2,000 home, clothing and accessories products, including bedding, long-sleeve tees, shoes and kids’ boots. Some of the savings are substantial, with some queen comforters dropping by $20.

If you’ve been putting off replacing worn-out sheets or picking up a few cooler-weather basics, here’s what costs less.

Bedding Prices Are 15% Lower on Average

Target says prices across its refreshed bedding assortment are 15% lower on average. Several of its examples are familiar basics:

Bedding itemPrevious priceAnnounced lower priceSavings
Threshold queen comforters$89$69$20
Room Essentials queen comforters$50$40$10
Threshold Performance queen sheets$55$50$5

The largest dollar reduction among those examples is on Threshold queen comforters. Room Essentials queen comforters, meanwhile, have dropped to $40.

The 15% figure is an average across the refreshed bedding assortment. Individual reductions vary, so shoppers shouldn’t expect every set of sheets or comforter to be marked down by the same percentage.

Clothing and Shoes Are Getting Lower Prices, Too

The apparel price reductions cover select women’s, men’s, infant and toddler clothing, along with footwear for the family. According to Target, some clothing and shoes now cost at least 20% less than they did last year.

Among the examples in the announcement:

  • Women’s long-sleeve tees: $12, down from $15—a $3 savings.
  • Women’s shoes: an average price of $35, compared with $40 last year.
  • Kids’ rain and winter boots: average prices approximately 15% below last year’s levels.

Target also says nearly 70% of its new women’s shoe items are priced below last year’s styles.

Lower Prices Beyond the Sale Events

These are price reductions, rather than discounts tied to a sale event. Target says its weekly deals and promotions offer additional opportunities to save, so you may be able to pay even less when an item goes on sale.

Target says the reductions build on more than 10,000 prices it had lowered over the past year.

What to Check Before You Head to Target

The examples above are the prices Target announced. Pricing, promotions and availability can vary by location and on Target.com, and the price reduction program excludes Alaska and Hawaii.

Target also notes that the products mentioned may not be available online or in every store.
