Whole Foods Market shoppers should check their refrigerators, freezers and bread boxes after three recall notices were posted within five days.
Two of the recalls are connected to jalapeños that may have been contaminated with Salmonella. The third involves bread that may contain pieces of metal.
The affected products were not sold at every Whole Foods Market location. Each recall is limited to particular products, dates and geographic areas, so shoppers should compare the information on their packages with the recall details below.
Whole Foods Market Guacamole, Salsa and Prepared Foods Recall
Whole Foods Market announced a recall on August 12, 2026, involving select products from its Produce and Prepared Foods departments.
The recalled foods contain jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors. The jalapeños were recalled because of potential Salmonella contamination associated with an outbreak under investigation.
The affected Whole Foods Market products were sold in stores and online in 12 states:

Taylor Fresh Foods Salsa and Pico de Gallo Recall
A separate recall announced on August 9, 2026, involves six Taylor Fresh Foods products sold at Whole Foods Market.
These products were also made with recalled jalapeños from Coast Citrus Distributors. The Whole Foods items included in this recall were distributed only in Illinois and Texas.
Shoppers should note that the products do not appear to carry a Taylor Fresh Foods brand name on the front of the package. The announcement lists the brand as “none,” making the product name, UPC and date especially important.

Taylor Fresh Foods reported that it was not aware of any illnesses connected to its recalled jalapeño-containing products at the time of the announcement.
Customers should discard an affected product and not consume it. Refunds are available from the location where the product was purchased. Questions can be directed to Taylor Fresh Foods at 855-455-0098, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
Why Are the Salsa and Guacamole Products Being Recalled?
The two refrigerated-food recalls involve products containing jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.
The potentially affected jalapeños came from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as a possible source in a multistate Salmonella outbreak under investigation.
Salmonella infections can be more serious for young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Anyone who ate one of the recalled products and is concerned about symptoms should contact a healthcare professional.
Are All Whole Foods Salsas and Guacamole Recalled?
No. The recalls apply only to the specific products, PLUs, UPCs, date ranges and locations listed in the notices.
Other salsas or guacamole products with different UPCs, date codes or distribution areas are not identified in these recalls.
Since several recalled products have similar names, shoppers should check all identifying information before discarding an item or assuming it is unaffected.
Grand Central Bakery Potato Sourdough Recall
The third notice involves Grand Central Bakery Potato Sourdough that may contain pieces of metal.
This is a localized recall affecting products sold in the Seattle and Tacoma metropolitan areas of Washington on August 10, 2026.
Whole Foods Market was one of several grocery retailers named in the announcement. The bread was also distributed to other grocery stores, select restaurants, wholesalers and four Grand Central Bakery café locations.

The recall was initiated after a pallet nail was found in a loaf of Potato Sourdough. According to the company announcement, the issue was connected to a single batch of dough.
No injuries or illnesses had been reported in connection with the recalled bread at the time of the update.

How to Find a UPC or PLU Code
For packaged products, the UPC is generally printed underneath the barcode. Match the complete number because products with similar names and packaging can have different UPCs.
Whole Foods Market prepared foods may use a PLU code printed on the store label rather than a traditional manufacturer’s UPC. Look near the product name, price, weight or Best By date.
Do not compare only the first few digits. Use the entire code when checking whether a product is included in the recall.
If the food was transferred to another container and the original package was discarded, check any available digital or paper receipt. Customers who still cannot identify the product can contact the store where it was purchased.
