As someone who loves to travel, there’s nothing quite like the experience of going on a cruise. I’ve found that cruising is my favorite way to vacation (I’ve been on over 25 cruises), and there are plenty of reasons why. Here are things I love about cruising.
Being Pampered
One of the best things about cruising is feeling pampered. I’ve been on over 25 cruises, and the level of service is always exceptional, no matter which cruise line you choose. From the elegant three-course dinners with white tablecloths to the evening turn-down service and the option to indulge in luxurious room service, you’ll definitely feel pampered on a cruise.
Amazing Service
One thing I really miss about cruising is the exceptional service. The cruise staff goes above and beyond to ensure the guests are well taken care of.
The cruise lines have impeccably trained their staff to provide amazing service. From the waiter who treats you like family to the cabin steward who gladly assists with anything you may need in your cabin, you receive 5-star service without the hefty price tag. The service on cruise ships is truly outstanding, very different from the rushed and impersonal service I often encounter on domestic flights and restaurants.
Value
Value is one of the most compelling aspects of cruising, and it’s what keeps me coming back for more. A cruise vacation truly offers incredible value – it surpasses many land vacations and all-inclusive resort trips.
For example, you can enjoy a cruise for just $120 per person per day (all-inclusive, covering gratuity, port taxes/fees, etc.). This is an amazing deal, considering you get unlimited food, 5-star service, accommodations, and entertainment. When you compare this to current hotel rates, which typically range from $300 to $400 per night for a 4-star hotel in a major city, you just can’t beat the exceptional value of going on a cruise.
Food
The food is another thing I miss most about going on a cruise. When you go on a cruise, you are not just served basic food like pizza, pasta, and burgers; you will be treated to a much more sophisticated dining experience.
Think shrimp cocktail, lobster, lamb shank, osso bucco, steak, escargot, and steak tartare. And the best part? You can have as much as you want! Pair that with 5-star service, and you really can’t beat the value.
Effortless
Another reason I keep choosing to go on a cruise is that it’s so easy and effortless. Everything is taken care of when you go on a cruise, giving me a true vacation, especially since I’m usually the one planning our family trips.
On a cruise, I don’t have to worry about researching what restaurant to go to and scheduling activities. It’s all taken care of – I can just relax and enjoy.
Even the shore excursions are hassle-free, with the cruise staff organizing everything, so all I have to do is sign up. Cruises truly provide an effortless way to vacation.
Activities for all Ages
One of the best things about going on a cruise is the variety of activities available for all age groups. Kids can enjoy the kids club, while older children have the option of hanging out at the teen club, playing basketball at the sports court, or trying out the arcade games. Grandparents can take it easy at the art auction or relax at the observatory with a good book, while parents can unwind in the adult-only pool.
Even on port days, my mother-in-law can choose to stay on the ship and relax while my son, teenage daughter, and I venture out for a thrilling shore excursion. Later, we all get together for a family dinner in the main dining room. It’s great that everyone can do their own activities during the day and still come together for dinner as a family.
Easy Way to See New Places
One of the best parts about going on a cruise is that it is a great way to visit multiple cities and countries without the usual travel hassles. No need to deal with plane rides, waiting for Uber, or lugging around your luggage. You’re basically staying in a floating hotel, so there’s no need to pack and unpack at every stop. Just walk down the gangway – it’s that simple.
Loyalty Perks
What makes cruising addictive are the loyalty perks- you start accumulating enough loyalty rewards to get loyalty perks. If you are loyal to one cruise line and have reached one of the top membership tiers, you will truly feel like a VIP.
From priority boarding to loyalty parties to access to exclusive restaurants to free cruises- the cruise lines really roll out the red carpet if you’re a top-tier loyalty member.
A Great Time
One of the things about going on a cruise that keeps me coming back for more is that regardless of which cruise line and who I bring along, we always have fun. There is really something for everyone when you go on a cruise—from my teenage daughter to my mother-in-law, everyone always has a great time. Check out: 16 Cruise Activities that are Completely Free
