44% Chance Major Hurricane Will Hit Florida, According to Experts

Florida’s hurricane woes continue as experts predict an unusually high number of hurricanes and storms in 2024. Experts from Colorado State University are predicting 11 hurricanes in 2024, out of which five are likely to become major hurricanes, with sustained winds of 111 miles per hour or greater, falling under category 3-5. The alarming news is that all of these hurricanes are expected to strike within a short span of six months, from June 1 to November 30. This is all due to the unusually warm tropical Atlantic and the incoming La Nina.

Florida’s 2024 Hurricane Season Will Be Worse than Last Year

The hurricane prediction for this year is scary. According to the meteorologists at Colorado State University (CSU), the 2024 hurricane activity will be around 170% more than the average season from 1991-2020. This is almost double the already intense hurricane activity of 2023.

They are predicting that this year’s hurricane season will be worse than last year, which was already terrible. Hurricane Idalia was the most significant hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, and it made landfall at Category 3 intensity in the Big Bend region of Florida. Hurricane Idalia resulted in $3.6 billion dollars in damage!
