Before you start your next home project, take a moment to check a major recall involving a product you may have owned for years. Even something you bought five or ten years ago could be affected.
The recall, announced November 5, 2026, involves about 3.66 million Little Giant ladders sold at Costco, Lowe’s and other retailers from December 2015 through October 2026.
The ladders can suddenly retract if their Rapid Locks are not fully engaged, posing a fall hazard. Little Giant has received reports of serious injuries, and owners of affected ladders should stop using them immediately.
If you have an older Little Giant ladder sitting in your garage, check whether it’s included—even if you’ve used it for years without a problem.
Which Little Giant ladders are recalled?
The affected models are:
- Adjustable Fortress 2.0
- Conquest 2.0
- Dark Horse 2.0
- Epic
- King Kombo XT
- Leveler
- MegaLite
- MegaLite+
- Multi
- Quantum
- Vector
Look for the Little Giant brand and model name on the ladder’s side. The black or orange Rapid Locks sit on each leg and fit into the rungs to adjust the height.

There is an important identifying detail: only ladders without an orange rectangular “QC” sticker on the rail above one of the Rapid Locks are included.
Where and when were they sold?

The ladders cost approximately $100–$1,000 and were sold from December 2015 through October 2026. Sellers included Lowe’s, Costco and other stores nationwide, plus Lowes.com, Amazon.com, Costco.com, LittleGiantLadders.com and other websites.
Bought yours years ago? You still need to check

This recall includes ladders sold from December 2015 through October 2026. If you bought a Little Giant ladder five or even ten years ago, check its model and the identifying details above before using it again.
A ladder you’ve kept in the garage for years could still be included, even if you’ve used it without a problem. If yours is affected, stop using it immediately and follow Little Giant’s recall instructions.
What incidents have been reported?

Little Giant received 25 reports of ladders retracting, including 19 injury reports. Three involved head injuries, with reported effects including traumatic brain injury, skull fracture, concussion, vision loss, hearing loss and cognitive impairment.
The other 16 involved injuries such as fractures, cuts and bruises. Another 39 reports concerned Rapid Locks malfunctioning.
What should owners do?

Stop using the recalled ladder. Review Little Giant’s recall instructions, also accessible through the ladder’s QR code, and contact the company for a kit containing warning labels and instructions.
Attach the labels and follow the directions for checking lock engagement before each use and lubricating the locks.
If a lock still malfunctions after lubrication, contact Little Giant for evaluation. If it remains faulty after that evaluation, the company offers an equivalent replacement ladder or a refund.
Refunds depend on purchase date and depreciation; purchases within the previous 12 months qualify for the full purchase price.
Call 866-201-9069, Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–3 p.m. Mountain Time. The recall number is 27-067 on the CPSC recall notice.
