New Target Stores Opening: Upcoming Locations by State

Target is a favorite for my family. I remember when I used to drive 20 minutes to get to our closest store. Then one opened just eight minutes away, and I was so happy to have a Target closer to home.

I can easily spend hours browsing the aisles, so I understand why a new Target is such a welcome addition to a community. Having a Target nearby makes a difference.

More communities could soon have that convenience. Target announced plans to open more than 30 stores in 2026 as part of a longer term goal to add more than 300 locations by 2035.

Many of this year’s stores have already opened, and additional locations are in the works.

Here’s a state-by-state look at where Target is opening new stores, along with some locations that recently welcomed shoppers.

Alabama

Target is planning new stores in Albertville, Chelsea and Huntsville.

The three locations appear on Target’s list of future Alabama stores. The company has not provided opening dates.

Arkansas

Target is planning a new store in Searcy.

Searcy is listed among Target’s future stores in the region. An opening date has not been announced.

California

Target has new stores planned for Beaumont, Los Angeles, Roseville and Victorville.

These projects would add to Target’s California expansion following its 2026 openings in Perris, Bakersfield and Delano. Opening dates for the four future stores have not been announced.

Colorado

Target is planning new stores in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch area and Monument.

The two planned locations would follow Target’s Firestone opening in July 2026. Target has not listed opening dates for Green Valley Ranch or Monument.

Florida

Target has new stores planned for Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale and Winter Haven.

These stores would follow the Lake Nona location, which opened in Orlando in July 2026. Target lists all three as future stores, with opening dates still to be announced.

Georgia

Target is planning a new Covington Alcovy Road store in Covington.

Idaho

Target is planning a new store in Pocatello.

Illinois

Target is planning a new store in Round Lake Beach.

Indiana

Target has new stores planned for Fishers, Portage and Terre Haute.

All three locations appear on Target’s list of future Indiana stores. Target has not announced when they will open.

Kentucky

Target is planning a new Georgetown Commons store in Georgetown.

The Georgetown location would follow the Frankfort store, which opened in July 2026. Target has not listed an opening date for Georgetown Commons.

Louisiana

Target is planning a new store in Denham Springs.

Michigan

Target is planning a new store in Davison.

Missouri

Target is planning a new Farmington Bray Road store in Farmington.

The Farmington project would follow Target’s University City Olive Boulevard store, which opened earlier in 2026. Target has not listed a Farmington opening date.

New Mexico

Target is planning a new Albuquerque Lobo Crossing store in Albuquerque.

Target identifies the future store by the Lobo Crossing name and the intersection of Interstate Highway 25 and Gibson Boulevard. Target has not announced an opening date.

New York

Target is planning a new Queens Ridgewood store in Ridgewood.

The Ridgewood store would follow Target’s Bridgehampton store, which opened in October 2026.

Ridgewood is listed as a future store. The opening date has not been announced.

North Carolina

Target has new stores planned for the Hope Mills area, Lincolnton, Mebane and Sanford.

The planned locations would continue Target’s expansion in the state after its 2,000th store opened in Fuquay-Varina earlier in 2026. Opening dates for these four projects have not been announced.

North Dakota

Target is planning new stores in Fargo and Williston.

Ohio

Target’s new Lima store is scheduled to open November 8, 2026, and another location is planned for Findlay.

The approximately 128,000 square foot Lima store is expected to employ more than 140 team members and include a CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks Café, Drive Up and Order Pickup. Target also plans an expanded selection of produce, meat and dairy there.

An opening date for Findlay is not been announced.

Oklahoma

Target is planning a new Norman South store in Norman.

Pennsylvania

Target is planning new stores in Hermitage and Parkesburg.

South Carolina

Target has new stores planned for Lexington and Rock Hill.

Tennessee

Target is planning a new store in Brown Deer.

Target Stores That Recently Opened

These new Target locations welcomed shoppers in October 2026.

Mississippi

Target opened a new store in Tupelo in October 2026.

Target describes the Tupelo location as its first store in the area and its largest in Mississippi.

New York

Target opened its Bridgehampton store in October 2026.

Address: 2102 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, New York

The approximately 90,000 square foot store includes a CVS Pharmacy and Starbucks Café. Its exterior and interior reflect the community’s coastal setting.

Tennessee

Target opened a new store in Cookeville in October 2026.

Address: 1100 S. Willow Avenue, Cookeville, Tennessee

The Cookeville location is now open to shoppers, joining Target’s existing Tennessee stores while additional locations remain in the pipeline.

Texas

Target opened new stores in Fort Worth, Katy and Liberty Hill in October 2026.

The three locations welcomed shoppers on October 11. They are already open, while additional Texas projects remain on Target’s future store list.

Virginia

Target opened its Norfolk Wards Corner store in October 2026.

The Wards Corner location welcomed shoppers on October 11 and is Target’s second store in Norfolk.

Will These New Target Stores Open in 2027?

Some shoppers may already be looking ahead to 2027, but a planned location does not automatically come with a confirmed opening year.

Target identifies future stores without providing opening dates for many of them. For now, those locations are best treated as stores in the pipeline. Check the individual store’s listing before planning a grand opening visit.

Target’s expansion is part of a broader investment in its stores. Its approximately $5 billion capital investment plan for 2026 also supports remodels, technology and supply chain improvements.
