Being one of the more popular sidewalk sales in Fairfield County, the New Canaan sidewalk sale attracts shoppers from neighboring Connecticut towns.
It’s a beloved annual New Canaan tradition dating back to the 1920’s and is held on the third Saturday of July.
There will be live music, food samples, and lots of family-friendly activities at this year’s Sidewalk Sale.

When is the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale?
The 2023 New Canaan Sidewalk Sale is a 2 days shopping event.
The New Canaan sidewalk sale starts will be on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Where is the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale?
The stores participating in the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale are on Elm Street and surrounding cross streets.
Elm Street, Forest Street and Main Street between Burtis and East Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic creating a “pedestrian mall”
Is the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale a Family Friendly Event?
The New Canaan Sidewalk Sale is a family friendly event.
In the past, there are family-friendly activities such as face painting, balloon animals, magic, photo booth, bubble machine and a Scavenger Hunt at the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale.
Where is the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale Parking?
It will be challenging to find parking at New Canaan’s Sidewalk Sale, especially on Saturday when Elm Street, Forest Street and Main Street between Burtis and East Avenue are closed to Vehicular traffic.
There are parking lots near Elm Street.
You can try the Morse Court Lot, Park Street Lot, Town Hall Lot and Locust Avenue Lot.

Is the New Canaan Sidewalk Sale Indoors or Outdoors?
There will be a combination of indoor and outdoor shopping at the Sidewalk Sale.
Most stores will have racks outside on the sidewalk for you to browse outdoors.
