Are you looking for gift ideas for a 9 year old boy? It’s hard to think of gift ideas for 9 year old boys because they don’t play with toys anymore! For a 9 year old boy, it’s all about Roblox and Minecraft video games! But if you are like me, I’m trying to cut down on screen time so giving anything that will add to screen time is definitely out of the question. So what can you give a 9 year old boy for Christmas? I asked my 9 year old son what he wanted for Christmas. Believe it or not, even this question was difficult for him to answer! Here are gift ideas for 9 year old boys.

What to Give a 9 Year Old Boy: 9 Gift Ideas

1. Speed Cube

My 9 year old son wants a speed cube for Christmas. He recently learned how to solve the Rubik’s cube and got really into speed cubing. I thought he would be content with his Rubik’s Cube but little did I know there are cube brands made specifically for speed cubing! Apparently, the Rubik’s branded cubes are clunky, according to my son, “you can’t corner cut” with a Rubik’s branded cube. He recommends getting the Gan Cube for speed cubing. He said all the pros use the Gan branded cubes to win competitions and to break world records! I compared the two cubes and the Gan cube does have a smoother feel when you compare it with the Rubik’s cube.

My 9 Year old Son suggests:

Gan Speed Cube- Get the Gan 3×3 for your 9 year old boy. If you want to splurge, get the Gan Pro Cube! (My son has the Gan 3×3, he wants the Gan Pro cube. I will get it for Christmas! Shh…!)

Speed Timer- Get the Speed Timer for your 9 year old if they want to feel like a pro! We recently went on a 6 hour road trip and my son was entertained with only his Gan Cube and Speed timer! No ipad, no devices…I couldn’t believe it!

2. Laser Tag Guns

Laser Tag guns are great gifts for 9 year old boys! My 9 year old son wants laser tag guns for Christmas. He recently attended an impromptu backyard gathering and had so much fun playing laser tag with his friends! I asked the host what these guns are and she recommends getting these Laser Tag Guns from Amazon. I’m getting a set of 4 laser tag guns for my 9 year old son. I love that it keeps him busy without the need for screen time. Plus the laser tag guns can be used indoors or outdoors, daytime or nighttime! So easy to use, perfect for playdates!

3. Nerf Guns

Nerf guns are a great gift for 9 year old boys! Whenever my son hosts playdates, we usually bring out nerf guns and it will entertain him and his friends for hours! No screen time during playdates! I suggest getting Nerf Guns with safety goggles. My 9 year old son also likes to shoot his Nerf Guns at these Rockets. They use these rockets as targets!

4. Air Hockey

Air Hockey table is a good gift for a 9 year old boy (although may be a little pricey)! We have an Air Hockey table and it’s always a hit with my son and his friends. What I like about it is it’s not battery operated, you just plug it in and it never runs out of air! It’s great fun! My son keeps it on the floor. You can also put it up on the table. This is the Air Hockey table from Amazon that my 9 year old son loves to play with.

4. Foosball Table

Foosball table is a great gift for a 9 year old boy. We have a Garlando Foosball table and my son and his friends are always playing with it during playdates. Even though my son and his friends have outgrown most toys, they haven’t outgrown foosball! I don’t recommend the Garlando Foosball table as a gift for a 9 year old boy since it’s way too pricey. I suggest a lower priced Foosball table from Amazon.

5. Synthetic Ice Rink

Give your 9 year old boy an indoor ice rink! Imagine, your 9 year old ice skating or playing ice hockey inside the house! All year long! You can build an ice rink indoors with synthetic ice tiles. These ice tiles are great because you can build a rink anywhere- playroom, garage, family room or even outdoors on the patio!

6. Minecraft Toys

Minecraft toys are great gifts for 9 year old boys! If your 9 year old boy is crazy about Minecraft then he will love Minecraft toys and books for Christmas. There are many Minecraft books and toys for 9 year old boys! I asked my son for recommendations, he looked through my Amazon account and added to my cart these Minecraft items.

7. Roblox Toys

Roblox toys are good gifts for 9 year old boys! If your 9 year old boy is addicted to playing Roblox, the way my son is addicted to Roblox then he will love these Roblox toys for Christmas. I asked my son for recommendations on which Roblox toys to get for Christmas, these are the items he added to my Amazon cart. As you can see below, he added the Roblox Gold Bloxy Award figurine but I think it’s too pricey if you can find another less expensive Roblox figurine I think it will make a good gift too for a 9 year old boy.

8. Remote Control Boat

Remote control boats are great gifts for 9 year old boys! These high speed, remote control boats are a hit with my 9 year old son and his friends. These remote control boats are powerful and the battery can last a while. We took the remote control boat out on the lake and it kept my 9 year old occupied for a long time! Here is the remote control boat my son loves, I recommend it as a gift for 9 year old boys.

9. Books

I think books are good gifts for 9 year old boys especially if they are always glued to their screens. I love seeing my son read, however, it seems like there aren’t a lot of books that are interesting for 9 year old boys.
