Apple Picking in Westchester County
Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm
Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm is the best place to go apple picking in lower Westchester County because it’s located right in Yorktown Heights. You don’t have to drive far to go apple picking at Wilkens Farm!
Wilkens Farm is open for apple picking from Wednesday to Monday (closed on Tuesdays) from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
Aside from apples, you can also go Pumpkin Picking and Peach & Nectarines Picking at Wilken Fruit and Fir Farm, and in December, stop in to cut your own Christmas Tree.
That’s right, a Christmas Tree farm right in Westchester County!
On your way out, stop by the Bakery at Wilkens Farm for their famous apple cider donuts, cookies, strudel sticks, brownies, muffins, candy, popcorn, brittle, fudge and fancy dipped apples.

Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard
Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard is also one of the best apple picking in Westchester County.
It’s conveniently located in Northern Westchester County in North Salem.
In order to keep capacity low, you need to make online reservations for apple picking.
There is an admission fee to go apple picking at Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard.
Tickets for apple picking at Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard go on sale in late August.
Aside from apples, you can also pick your own pumpkin at Harvest Moon Farm’s pumpkin patch.
After apple and pumpkin picking, enjoy the live music at Harvest Moon Farm with a glass of Hardscrabble Cider or a refreshing apple cider slushie. And stay for a BBQ lunch. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon!
On your way out, don’t forget to stop by the Harvest Moon farm store for apple cider donuts, freshly baked pies, pumpkins, and gifts.
Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard is a 35 minutes drive from Scarsdale, NY.
Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard is located at 130 Hardscrabble Road, North Salem, NY.
Stuart’s Fruit Farm
Stuart’s Fruit Farm is one of the best places to go apple picking in Westchester County.
Located in Northern Westchester County, Stuart’s Fruit Farm is an apple orchard in Granite Springs, NY.
Stuart’s Fruit Farm is open for apple picking every day from 10 am to 5 pm.
There are a variety of over 20 apples to pick from at Stuart’s Fruit Farm.
You should call ahead or check their website to find out the availability and the type of apples that are ready for picking.
Aside from apple picking, you can take a hayride around the orchard (hayrides are on weekends only) from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Then stop by the bakery for delicious apple cider donuts and homemade pies baked daily.
There is also a farm stand at Stuart’s Fruit Farm for farm fresh fruits and vegetables.
Stuart’s Fruit Farm is a 37 minutes drive from Scarsdale, NY.

Outhouse Orchards
Outhouse Orchards is one of the best apple orchards for apple picking in Westchester County.
Located in Northern Westchester County, Outhouse Orchards is an apple orchard in North Salem.
It’s open daily for apple picking from 9 am to 5 pm.
Aside from apples, you can also go pumpkin picking at their pumpkin patch.
In order to minimize crowding on the weekends, Outhouse Orchards has implemented an online reservation system.
There is a reservation fee and you have a 3-hour window to go apple picking.
After apple picking, head over to the corn maze for some fun (admissions fee).
There is also a Hayride. It’s a nice 15 minute hayride where you’ll get a glimpse of the gardens, apple trees, and breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley farm.
Outhouse Orchards is a 36 minute drive from Scarsdale, NY.
Outhouse Orchard is located at 139 Hardscrabble Road, North Salem, NY.
Barton Orchards
Barton Orchards is one of the best places to go for apple picking in lower Hudson Valley.
Located just outside Westchester County, Barton Orchards is approximately a 45-minute drive from Westchester County and an hour’s drive from Fairfield County.
Barton Orchards is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm and closed on Mondays for apple picking.
Aside from apple picking, there are also pumpkin and vegetable picking (check the calendar on their website or call to find out what is in season).
If you are looking to spend the afternoon, there are lots to do at Barton Orchards- a playground, petting zoo, gemstone mining, and mini-golf.
Adults will appreciate the tap room for local craft beer or hard cider.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, there is usually live music with indoor and outdoor seating, beer and cider on tap, and concessions.
Barton Orchards is also a dog-friendly orchard with a one-acre dog park.
Well-behaved dogs are permitted at the orchards with a leash. If you go during one of their festival weekends, you can catch the Hayride and Corn Maze.

Silverman’s Farm
Silverman’s Farm is open every day for apple picking from 9am to 5:30pm.
Silverman’s Farm is located in the town of Easton in Fairfield County, CT.
Aside from apple picking, you can also visit the Animal Farm.
There are a variety of animals at Silverman’s farm, including barnyard animals and more unusual animals like buffalo, llamas, alpacas, emus, and long-horn cattle.
Picnic tables are available.
There is an admission fee to visit the Animal Farm.
After apple picking, stop by the country market to pick up apple cider donuts and pies.

Blue Jay Orchards
Unfortunately, due to Spring Frosts and Freeze, Blue Jay Orchards will not be offering apple picking this Fall 2023 season.
Blue Jay Orchards is typically open for apple picking Tuesday to Friday from 11am-4:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4:30pm.
Aside from apple picking, you can also pick your own pumpkin at the pumpkin patch.
On your way out, stop by the bakery for fresh pies and their famous apple cider donuts. Blue Jay Orchards is an apple orchard in Fairfield County. Blue Jay Orchards is a 45 minutes drive from Westchester County (New York).
Blue Jay Orchards is located at 125 Plumtrees Road, Bethel, CT.
Beardsley’s Cider Mill
Beardsley’s Cider Mill is another apple orchard in Fairfield County.
It is a small apple orchard compared to the other farms on this list.
Beardsley’s Cider Mill is open for apple picking on the weekends from 10am to 5pm.
Don’t expect kid’s activities and corn mazes, Beardsley’s Cider Mill is small with only an apple orchard and a modest farm store.
When you go there, do stop by the farm store for apple cider donuts and cider.

Bishop’s Orchards
Bishop’s Orchards is an apple orchard located in Guilford, CT, within an hour’s drive from most Fairfield County towns.
The orchard is open every day for apple picking from 10am to 5pm.
Bishop’s Orchard is one of the bigger orchards with many Fall activities on-site- get lost in the corn maze or relax on the outdoor patio with a cone from the Ice Cream stand.
Before you leave, don’t forget to pick up their famous pies and baked goods from the Farm Market.
Aside from apple picking, Bishop’s Orchard is also a winery. You can stop in for tastings of their award-winning fruit wines and hard ciders.

Lyman Orchards
Lyman Orchards is open every day for apple picking from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
After apple picking, take a stroll in their corn maze!
There is an admission fee to enter the Lyman Orchards’ corn maze.
Lyman Orchards is also home to Lyman Golf (book your tee time in advance).
Before you head home, get your weekly food shopping done at the Apple Barrel Farm Market. Don’t expect a small country store, the Apple Barrel Farm market rivals large grocery stores in the area.
Lyman Orchards is an hour and 30-minute drive from Westchester County.

4 Tips for Apple Picking
Here are important tips to help you make the most of apple picking.
1. Call Ahead Before Going Apple Picking
Apple picking is very weather dependent.
It’s not uncommon for apple picking farms to close for the day because of rain.
Make sure to call ahead before going to check to see if the farm is open for apple picking.
2. Plan Your Visit Based on the Apple Harvest Schedule
Most farms have 20 or more apple varieties.
The apple picking season generally starts in September and through October.
There is generally a harvest schedule to determine what type of apple is available for picking.
If you are looking for a certain type of apple, definitely plan your apple-picking visit around the Harvest schedule.
Call ahead to check before going because sometimes certain apples may run out for the season or the crop is yielding low.
3. Dress appropriately for apple picking
Since you will be spending time outdoors, dress in layers so you are comfortable when apple picking.
Also, make sure you wear appropriate footwear since apple picking is outdoors and it may get muddy.
Don’t forget the sunblock and hat!
4. Do stop by the Farm Market
After apple picking, don’t forget to make a stop at the farm market.
Most places sell freshly baked apple cider donuts, pies, and bread.
You can also get apple ciders, hard ciders, and even fruit wines.
