How to start a vinyl record collection

Cheapest Places to Buy Vinyl Records Online

One of the most common problems people have when collecting vinyl records is often finding the exact record they want. Unless it is a recent release or a very popular album, oftentimes finding a particular vinyl can be challenging, especially for those who may not live close to many record stores.

Luckily there are many great websites where you can buy new or used vinyl records for cheap. Whatever you’re looking for, whether it is a particular variant of a more popular release or a more obscure record, these websites can help you find the vinyl record you want.

Here are some of the cheapest places to buy vinyl records online.

Where to Buy Vinyl Records Online

1. Discogs

A favorite among vinyl record collectors, Discogs features a database of artists and their discographies, along with a “marketplace” where anyone can buy or sell.

Discogs features both new and used vinyl, as well as many obscure and hard to find records. They have a wide variety of genres and different formats other than records for collectors of CDs, cassettes, and more.

There’s really something for everyone on Discogs- it’s one of my go-to websites for buying vinyl records online at a good price!

2. Amoeba Records

Amoeba Records is a great place to buy vinyl records online. LA’s iconic record store has a website for those who are far away, with everything that the store has to offer. They have a huge selection of vinyl, CDs, movies, and merch, along with free shipping.

For those who live close, I would suggest visiting Amoeba Records’ store in person, but for those who can’t, buying vinyl records online is a great option.

3. Tower Records

Tower Records, formerly a franchise of retail stores that moved online, has an extensive collection offering not just vinyl, but classic CDs and cassettes as well as exclusive variants and merch. It’s no surprise that it is a popular choice for finding deals on vinyl records online due to them having a catalog of over 350,000 titles.

Tower Records’ website is very well organized and is constantly updated so that customers know when harder-to-find titles are restocked. Tower Records is a great option for buying vinyl records online.

4. Vinyl Me, Please

Vinyl Me, Please is one of the more unique online vinyl record websites due to its subscription program that sends subscribers four surprise records a month.

They also have exclusive vinyl pressings and a substantial general catalog of records to choose from, so odds are you’ll be able to find what you want and maybe even discover new music in the process.

5. Depop

Although most people think of Depop as an app for buying used clothes, it has much more to offer, including a community of vinyl resellers on the platform. Although the selection isn’t massive, there are often harder to find titles for solid prices on the app, especially more modern releases and rare variants.

It’s absolutely worth checking Depop for deals on vinyl records, as you really never know what you’re going to find on Depop.
